One strategy I have used in another class is connecting ideas. In my sociology course, I find a lot of the information can be related to my own life. Since that course teaches how people develop in society, it’s made to be something that people can relate to. Because of this, when I am studying for a quiz or exam, I typically go through my notes and try to think about the concepts in the sense of how they would apply in my life. This makes it easier for me to fully understand the material. This then helps when I take the exam as I don’t necessarily have to do as much memorizing. Instead, I am thinking about the main ideas in my own life so it just makes sense. I also am able to connect a lot of ideas that we learn about to the psychology class I took in high school because they are very similar. And, since I really enjoyed my psychology class, it makes me want to learn everything I can in sociology as well.
